A trooper was injured early Monday after a motorist rear-ended his police car on the ramp from Interstate 90/04 to the westbound lanes of Interstate 290, according to Illinois State Police.
About 12:41 a.m., the trooper was waiting for a tow truck to arrive to remove a vehicle from the ramp when a motorist rear-ended the police car, Illinois State Police said. The trooper was inside his police car and he had his emergency lights on when the crash happened.
The trooper was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital to be treated for back pain. No one was inside the vehicle that was being towed during the time of the crash.
The man who crashed into the trooper’s car was taken to Stroger Hospital along with his passenger. Police did not know the driver’s age and they did not know the age or gender of the passenger.
No charges or citations had been filed as of Monday. The crash remains under investigation.
